Who we are

We are located at 6125 Brown Road in Oxford, Ohio, on a property that was once home to the Doty Family. This is a piece of Oxford’s history, and it holds deep meaning for me because it extends the traditions of farming and life in Southwestern Ohio to my own three children. As a mom of young children, I understand the challenges of balancing family life and finding time for wholesome, homemade meals. That’s why I’m dedicated to offering baked goods that make breakfast, lunch, and dinner easier — and more enriching — for busy families. Just like you care about your kids, I care about you! My focus is on creating products that use simple, high-quality ingredients. Everything I make is preservative-free, I use local products when possible as well as organic flour. I place a lot of energy on perfecting everyday sandwich loaves, but I also enjoy making fresh nut butters and fun, flavorful jams and jellies to accompany these breads.

In addition to serving local families, I believe in honoring the heritage, traditions, recipes, and culture that have shaped this area’s history and many aspects of my life. Both sides of my family moved to Ohio from Kentucky in the 1950s, seeking something better and easier than the hardships they faced in deep Appalachia. My grandparents established their new home in Oxford, kept a large garden, and worked in housekeeping at Miami University for decades. My mom — and now baking partner — Marsha McIntosh, got her first job washing dishes and waiting tables at the restaurant that is now the Century 21 building near the high school, and eventually worked in HR at Miami.

Honoring this history comes in the form of caring for people, often with foods like simple breads, holiday pies, and yeast rolls. I also love giving these time-honored recipes innovative updates, adding new flavors or techniques to create foods that feel fresh and inspiring. This approach is also a nod to the ingenuity, resourcefulness, and creativity that has always been present in Appalachian culture.

Whether it’s a classic loaf or a new take on a family favorite, I’m committed to offering my community baked goods that are wholesome, delicious, and made with ingredients you can trust — with availability you can rely on. I’d love for you to experience the flavors of my Appalachian heritage, and I hope you find joy in the simple, delicious food we make right in the farmhouse kitchen. Thank you for supporting McIntosh’s Farmhouse, where every loaf is made with love and a story to tell.
